Welcome to Hitch
Here Are Our Reasons Why You Should Be Here
Rigor & Excellence
Academic Programming
At Hitch, we strive to provide academically challenging educational experiences that allow our students to attend the high school of their choice, setting them up for success.
However, it is not enough to just focus on high school preparation. We must ensure our students have the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate the ever-changing workforce and economic landscape.

Resilience & Mindfulness
Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
SEL is an approach that emphasizes the importance of addressing the social and emotional needs of students, as well as their academic needs, and is essential in helping students develop the skills they need to succeed in their personal and professional lives. Our SEL support staff includes a counselor, a full-time social worker, an interventionist, and the tools you see here.
Above & Beyond
Diverse Learners
Our teachers provide all students the best possible educational experience, regardless of their learning differences, and set our diverse learners program apart. Their commitment to equity and inclusion creates an inclusive and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive.
Bilingual Super-Power
English Language Learners
Our ESL program provides English language learners with the tools and resources they need to succeed academically and socially. It recognizes the unique needs of these students and provides individualized instruction in a language-rich and engaging environment.
Husky Nation
Athletic Program
Sports can have a positive impact on children of all ages. Participating in sports promotes physical fitness, social skills, teamwork, and self-esteem. Additionally, winning sports teams like our championship-winning Husky basketball team create a sense of community pride and school spirit.
Hitch is one of the few schools where your child can experience the world, right from home.
With over 40 languages represented in our student body and our local community, the world is no longer at our children's fingertips via a wireless device, but rather in our backyard.
The ability for our children to gain access and learn from different cultures early in life allows them to adapt quickly and be more resilient as they continue living in a culturally diverse city.
We embrace our differences allowing them to unify us we teach and learn from one another.

Special School Events
Hosting special events at our school, such as STEM night, Read-A-Thon, and movie night (to name only a few) provide opportunities for students, parents, and staff to come together, learn, and celebrate our school culture and achievements. Check out 2 of our most popular events below:
Hitch is a community that embraces our diversity and celebrates the richness of different cultures from around the globe. We recognize the importance of learning from one another's unique backgrounds and experiences, and one way they do this is by hosting,The Taste of Hitch, a cultural celebration where families can share their heritage through food.
During this celebration, Hitch families are invited to volunteer to cook a dish from their ethnic background. The dishes are then shared and enjoyed by everyone in attendance, creating an opportunity for families to connect and learn about each other's traditions.
Hitch-o-ween is a frightfully fun school event filled with Halloween-themed activities, games, and treats. From creepy crawly crafts to spooky science experiments, there's something for everyone.
Our Student Travel Sequence offers sixth, seventh, and eighth graders an unforgettable opportunity to enjoy an off-campus experience scaled to their age. Sixth graders spend a day touring Chicago, seventh graders travel to Springfield, and eighth graders take a one-day airplane trip to an East Coast city.
